JEE-Advanced Scheduled for May 26
Rings, Bracelets, Amulets, and Other Metal Items Prohibited
Students Advised to Wear Open Footwear (Slippers/Sandals)
Kota: The JEE-Advanced 2024 entrance examination will be conducted on May 26 in two shifts. It is noteworthy that the merit list of this entrance examination forms the basis for admission to undergraduate, integrated, and dual-degree programs in the 23 IITs across the country. To prevent the use of unfair means during the examination, the organizing institution, IIT Madras, has issued several guidelines. Dev Sharma stated that students are explicitly instructed to wear open footwear, i.e., slippers or sandals, instead of shoes. Additionally, the wearing of rings, bracelets, amulets, and other metal items is prohibited. The use of electronic devices during the examination is also strictly forbidden.
Use Only Transparent Water Bottles:
Students Cannot Use Non-Transparent Cold Water Bottles
The issued guidelines clearly state that students should only bring transparent water bottles. Dev Sharma mentioned that it is challenging to find transparent water bottles that can keep water cold, and students are not allowed to bring non-transparent water bottles. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the organizers to ensure the availability of cold water at the examination centres. Students are instructed to carry their admit cards, original photo IDs, and personal pens and pencils to the examination centre.
No Additional Sheets for Rough Work:
Students Can Take Rough Work Sheets Home After the Exam, No Need to Submit to Invigilator
Dev Sharma mentioned that according to the issued guidelines, students will be provided with only one set of rough worksheets. Importantly, no additional rough worksheets will be provided if needed, so students must use the rough worksheets carefully. Dev Sharma also noted that students will be allowed to take their rough worksheets home after the exam, without the need to submit them to the invigilator.
Reporting Time at 7 AM:
According to the information on the admit card, students are required to report to the examination centre at 7 AM on May 26. For Paper 1, students can log in at 8:30 AM, and for Paper 2, at 2 PM. The merit list of this entrance examination will facilitate admission to B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech, and dual-degree programs in the 23 IITs. Dev Sharma emphasized that to succeed in this prestigious entrance examination, students need to move beyond the JEE-Main mindset, as JEE-Main does not have the requirement of individual subject cutoffs, whereas JEE-Advanced does mandate individual subject cutoffs for success.
